Free Scriptures
There are several free ways to read these scriptures believed and revered by Mormons.
1. Request a free copy online
On Mormon.org, you can request a free Bible or a free Book of Mormon. You also can request them over the phone.
2. Read online
You can read any of our scriptures online at lds.org/scriptures. Reading online, you can search for key words and easily explore cross references.
3. There's an App for that
You can explore our scriptures using mobile apps that the church has created. You can find the LDS mobile apps here. I recommend the LDS Gospel Library app, which allows you to download any of the scriptures and some other content, or the Book of Mormon app.
Scriptures are sacred texts inspired by God and written by prophets that teach us about God's plan of salvation, the commandments, and the history of God's works among people on earth. Mormons believe and study several books of scripture.
The Bible
Mormons love and revere the Bible as sacred scripture. In addition to the teachings of many ancient prophets, the Bible records the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ, the son of God, our exemplar, and our Savior. It is a witness of his gospel, his atonement, his divinity, and his resurrection.
The Book of Mormon
We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. It is the record of the teachings of ancient prophets who lived and taught on the American continent. It tells of how Jesus Christ ministered to people in other parts of the world after his resurrection, thus making it another testament that adds a confirming witness to the Bible.
Doctrine and Covenants
This book is a collection of revelations that God gave in the time when our church was organized. As its name indicates, it contains doctrines of our church and covenants (promises) from God to his children.
