About This Blog

It's no secret that Lynchburg, Virginia, is a religious town. One of the most prominent fixtures in town is a giant monogram on the side of Candler's Mountain showing the letters "LU." That's for Liberty University, a mega-sized Baptist college.

Driving through town, it is hard to ignore the high population of churches ranging in size from convention center to street corner shop. There are numerous Protestant meetinghouses, Catholic sanctuaries, a Jewish synogogue, a mosque, and more.

This area of Virginia also is home to several hundred members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—Mormons.

This blog was started by Bryan Gentry, one of the Latter-day Saints in Lynchburg, to help friends and neighbors of other faiths (and of no faith) to get to know their Mormon neighbors a little better by:
  • Sharing news about what we are doing as a church, as families, and as individuals
  • Answer questions and explain our beliefs to foster understanding
  • Share our church's insights and teachings that we hope will help people to strengthen their faith in Christ, have greater happiness at home, and lead more fulfilling lives
  • Connect local Latter-day Saints with opportunities to interact and serve in the community
Writings on this blog represent the personal opinions, experiences, spiritual insights, and beliefs of the individual writers, and do not necessarily reflect official statements and doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
